ABOUT us
Sile (Sheila) is an American ventriloquist, comedian, and conservation advocate whose work is rooted in a profound family legacy.
The niece of Rev. Father Thomas Berry — pioneering environmentalist and author of the landmark conservation texts The Great Work and The Dream of the Earth — Sheila has dedicated her performance career to honoring his lifelong mission. His most enduring words, "When the animals go, we go," guide everything she and Mister Dimples do.
Mister Dimples is Sheila's platypus puppet and comedy partner. He is supposed to be Australian. He sounds like he is from Ohio. Neither of them is entirely sure how that happened.
Together they have performed across the United States and internationally, including Wales, UK, and have built a growing audience of which nearly 30% are Australian — a testament to the authenticity and global appeal of their conservation message delivered through comedy.
Descendants of the great Chief Powhatan and with Irish ancestors who emigrated to Australia, Sheila brings a rare depth of heritage and purpose to the stage that sets her apart from any other performer working today.
Sheila's work caught the attention of Luke Swinney, Casting Director of America's Got Talent, who personally reached out after discovering her videos on social media.
At the heart of everything is a simple but powerful belief inherited from Uncle Brother himself — that laughter and conservation belong together, that joy is a vehicle for change, and that even the most improbable creatures deserve a champion.
Mister Dimples agrees. Mostly. He's still working through some things with Gerald the squirrel.

how it began A Comeback with Laughter!
From childhood, laughter was my currency. I thrived off the joy of others, with humor being my language. It started with impressions at family gatherings, bringing smiles to faces as I mimicked my in-laws. But it was the world of comedy legends like Rich Little and Foster Brooks that truly captivated me. One fateful night in 1972, as my mother and I watched the television show Laugh In, special guests Willie Tyler & Lester took to the stage. The art of ventriloquism entranced me, and that Christmas, I unwrapped a Lester doll that would change my life forever. Decades passed, with detours into music and acting as I navigated the complexities of life. Now, in my sixties, I find myself drawn back to where it all began - the stage. With my puppets in hand, I resurrect my ventriloquist act, blending humor and wisdom cultivated through years of experience as a mother and grandmother. As I step back into the spotlight, I embrace my role as a seasoned performer, weaving anecdotes and quips into a tapestry of laughter. My comedy is a reflection of my journey, the highs and lows of life distilled into punch lines and jests. So, to those who seek a night of unbridled mirth and entertainment, I extend an invitation to join me on this new chapter. Whether through my website or live performances, let's traverse the landscape of comedy together, creating moments that linger long after the final curtain falls. Sile |
